Crispy Fish Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 fish fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crispiness)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish:
    • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. This will help them get crispy.
  2. Set Up the Breading Station:
    • In one shallow bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
    • In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
    • In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
  3. Bread the Fish:
    • Dredge each fillet in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess.
    • Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip off.
    • Finally, coat the fillet with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Heat the Oil:
    • In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. To check if the oil is hot enough, drop a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles, it’s ready.
  5. Fry the Fish:
    • Carefully add the breaded fish fillets to the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Do not overcrowd the pan; you may need to do this in batches.
  6. Drain:
    • Once cooked, transfer the fish to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve:
    • Serve the crispy fish with lemon wedges and garnish with fresh parsley. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce or side dishes!

Tips:

  • For added flavor, marinate the fish in lemon juice and seasonings for 15-30 minutes before breading.
  • You can also bake the breaded fish in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes for a healthier option.
