Beef Stir-Fry
Ingredients:
- For the Beef:
- 1 lb (450 g) beef (sirloin, flank, or ribeye), thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for marinating)
- For the Stir-Fry:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced or grated
- 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, sliced thinly
- 1 cup snap peas or green beans
- 3-4 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions:
- Marinate the Beef:
- In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil. Mix well and let it marinate for about 15-30 minutes.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
- Cook the Beef:
- In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over high heat.
- Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing it to sear. Then stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed. Add the minced garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the bell pepper, broccoli, carrot, and snap peas. Stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
- Combine and Serve:
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour the sauce over everything. Toss to combine and heat through for another 1-2 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
- Serve:
- Serve the stir-fry over steamed rice or noodles.
Tips:
- Feel free to customize the vegetables based on your preferences or what you have on hand.
- For extra flavor, you can add a splash of sesame oil right before serving.
